What's new: your library, grooves, and the Arrangement
We opened the Early Access Preview a week ago, and the shipping hasn’t slowed down. Here’s what’s new in Dawbrain over the past two weeks.
Search your Ableton library, and load what you find
Ask for “a one-shot kick from my trap packs” or “loops in F minor” and Dawbrain searches your installed Ableton Live library by key, pack, source, and type. It doesn’t stop at finding the sound: it loads it straight into a clip slot, a drum pad, or the Arrangement. Tell it to grab one-shots from a pack and lay them out on a drum rack, and you get a playable kit without touching the browser.
Grooves from your library
Say “put MPC 60 swing on the hi-hats” and Dawbrain finds the groove in your Ableton library, loads it into the groove pool, and applies it to the clip. Your existing groove collection is now something you can reach through chat.
The Arrangement view
Dawbrain can now write MIDI clips directly into the Arrangement timeline, read them back, and copy clips over from Session view: “copy the drum and bass clips into the Arrangement at bar 17.”
Parameters in real units
“Set the filter cutoff to 400 Hz.” “Set the delay time to a dotted eighth.” Dawbrain now sets device parameters by their display value, the number you actually see on the device.
More genres, plus fills
Rock and R&B joined the genre-aware drum templates, and generated beats now drop in fills across the pattern.
Smaller things
- There’s a Stop button in the chat, so you can halt a turn at any point.
- The launch post mentioned that long requests could end without a wrap-up message. We’ve shipped several fixes there: it happens less, and when something does go wrong mid-turn you now get a clear error message.
- Long multi-step requests got faster and cheaper under the hood, which matters when a single prompt builds a 32-bar loop.
